Introduction, location, materials, plinth, budget and timeline

Introduction
My best work arises from ideas and compositions that develop by way of consultation and maquettes.  To this end, I have created an initial sketch maquette in clay of a figure to 1/4 life-size, 1/6 of my proposed size of the finished sculpture.  In addition, I have begun a life-size clay sketch to explore the portrait.

Were you to wish me to take this commission to fruition, the next steps are outlined in the first part of the timeline below.

Location
Of the three proposed locations, my preferred choice is No 1, ‘at the Hoe side of the gate looking south’.  The sculpture will be in full sun for most of the day and the composition of the drapery suggests a breeze sweeping up from the sea.

Size
I propose a 1.5 life size figure standing 2.37m (excluding plinth height)

Materials
Bronze statue on stone base.  The exact nature of the stone tbc on consultation with regard local weather conditions.

Plinth
Although scaled to 1 x 1m, the design of plinth in the clay maquette is, at this stage, a little arbitrary.  I will design this in more detail after consultation.

Budget

Given that you have a fixed sum, I will work with you on this matter.
